First Pointe Shoes

Long time no see! Things have been pretty hectic lately with school wrapping up, but I finally have made it out onto this blog. Two weeks ago I got fitted for my first pair of pointe shoes! If you've been around here for long, then you know I have been anticipating this :) The fitting went pretty well I think, we ended up debating between Grishko and Russian Pointe, and found the Russian Pointes looked best. The model is Entrada with a medium flexible shank because my teacher wanted us to start out with a bit of a harder shoe. I have had two classes on pointe so far, and I am just struggling a bit with getting all the way up the box because they aren't quite broken in yet. Overall though, my teacher says we are doing good for just starting. If you have never worn pointe shoes before, it really isn't as bad as some people make it out to be... but your arches may feel like they're burning :) I take pointe with my friend Lauren before class for 30 min. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and we might even add Fridays because my teacher wants to possibly move us up to level/grade 6 next year! That's a big IF though, because we would have to take enough pointe in the summer and she would have to feel we could skip a year of pointe... yikes! This is what I've been hoping for though.
